Cycling Routes & Resources In Sidmouth

Sidmouth and the surrounding area of Devon is a beautiful setting for walks and cycling, with cycle routes and cross-country trails dotted around the coast and inland countryside.

The Coastline provides perhaps the most scenic cycle route from Sidmouth, with a path following the cliff path from Simouth along to Budleigh Salterton (which is steep in some areas, so bear this in mind), and then the choice of either the contuining Coastal Path or an inland route on a disused railway that leads through to Exmouth. If you fancy a day-trip for some cycling you could drive to the Haldon Forest Park where they have forest cycle trails varying from gentle to rugged, and offer mountain bike rental if you fancy going fast and getting muddy.

The Haldon Forest Park is also the home of the Go Ape centre, with high-ropes and zip lines, plus a cafe for lunch and drinks to help you recover.

If you're a more seasoned cyclist, you may fancy the idea of coinciding your stay with one of the many cycling events held in the area. The Dartmoor Devil and Devon Dirt are two such events worth looking into, depending on how you enjoy your cycling.
